“I break down the apps, so you don’t have a breakdown.”
1. I believe social media should be social.
2. There should be no excuse for why you aren’t harnessing the social web to spread your awesome. If I can help demystify it for you, then we both win.
“Let’s keep the social in ‘social media’.”
Back in 2010 I joined a local chapter of a women’s entrepreneurial group. At the very first event I attended, I introduced myself to the co-director and told her about the Social Deviants mission to help entrepreneurs master online marketing so that they can build their businesses and communities.
She asked me if I’d be interested in training the women in social media networks and applications. Drinks & Apps was born.
For six months, in a happy hour-style setting with wine and appetizers flowing, I focused on a social network or app. I found that with a drink in hand, the tech didn’t seem so overwhelming, asking the questions didn’t seems as embarrassing, and the ladies flourished.
“Make yourself useful.”
I have decided to revive Drinks & Apps because there are new networks, new apps, new devices and new ways of communicating and connecting online. The market is only getting more crowded, and I don’t want to see any entrepreneur left behind because he or she thinks they can’t keep up.
It’s everyone’s duty to make themselves useful. This is my way of helping you do yours.
These are not Power Point presentations. These are hands-on demonstrations, training and content and campaign strategy events. Open your laptop or take notes, but bring questions. Leave the icky negative feelings you have toward social media and online marketing at the door. Resistance is futile. Come with the positive desire to take action.
There will be three Drinks & Apps LIVE events in Nashville, TN for the remainder of 2012. Venue sponsor, Parks Properties has offered their gorgeous, relaxing conference area. With two walls of windows, couches, tables and sliding barn-style doors, the room is the perfect setting to unwind and dig into the social space.
